			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>For us cats there are several sweet advantages in having a human as a pet. But remember you are taking on a big responsibility when you adopt one or more humans. Humans are demanding pets that need daily care and attention.<br />&#13;<br />
With responsibility come both advantages and disadvantages. If you adopt a human you must get used to spending time at home. Your human does not deal well with being left alone &#8211; they will get into all sorts of mischief. For example, if you are gone just two or three days you run the risk of seeing posters put up all over the neighborhood. Your human will put out an APB on you ! Often with an embarrassing text that reveals all sorts of personal details &#8211; and usually accompanied by an unflattering photo of you &#8211; with morning fur and crumpled whiskers. Exactly the kind of thing that attracts ridicule from all the neighbor cats.<br />&#13;<br />
So please consider carefully if you are ready for a life with humans. And remember humans generally grow very old, so there is a big chance that you will spend the rest of your life with your human.</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Entertaining your Human<br />&#13;<br />
The litter box provides a great opportunity for entertaining your human. Naturally there is all the fun your human can have cleaning and scooping out the box. A lot of human time can also be used getting fresh litter &#8211; going to the pet store, transporting it home etc. However many humans like new challenges.  Utilize your litter box time in making interesting and artistic renderings of countries or well known islands. Your human will have lots of fun guessing which one you made. Humans like game-shows &#8211; so this should be a popular activity. When your human increases in skill you can also make portraits of family and friends. Start with profile portraits &#8211; this will make it easer for your human.</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Shredding<br />&#13;<br />
Make it a priority to shed indoors on appropriate surfaces. Fleece is a particularly suitable material to shred on.  All you need to do is pass close by your human when he or she is wearing fleece. All cat hair within a radius of about 2 feet from the fabric will immediately be transferred to your human. No brushing necessary for several days ! Another good solution is to get access to a filled clothes hamper. Jump into it and give all contents a good work over. An extra bonus with this method is that most cat hairs will survive a trip to the washing machine. Your human will be stylishly accessorized with cat hair on all outfits. </p>

Extra Food <br />&#13;<br />
All chances for a bit of extra food must and should be taken advantage of. Whenever your human is in the kitchen there is a prime opportunity of getting an extra snack. When your human is busy at the kitchen table place yourself in your humans blind angle (just behind the ankle is usually a good spot). And the second your human moves one of both feet you jump back screaming your most heart-wrenching cry. Your human will automatically assume that he/she stepped on you. When your human looks back scared to see what is happening look up at him/her with a painful expression on your face (practice this before hand in front of a mirror). Your human&#8217;s bad conscience will often result an edible apology.</p>

Grass Etiquette<br />&#13;<br />
Before you eat grass make sure that you are close to a suitable place to throw up on. Delicate furniture fabrics, precious carpets, and shoes are all good places. If you choose furniture aim for the part that has non-removable fabric. When you are getting down to business make sure you back up a step or two so that you cover the largest area possible. Another technique is to do several items with pauses in-between. Persian carpets will give a good camouflage effect and your little gift will often not be discovered until somebody steps in it.</p>

Preventing your human from wasting valuable time<br />&#13;<br />
One of the most important tasks we cats have is to prevent humans in wasting their time. Humans love to spend their time on things with no relevance for cats. For example watching TV, reading, talking on the phone &#8211; and many other things that have no entertainment value for us cats what so ever. A lot of methods can be used to prevent human time waste &#8211; use your imagination. Some especially effective techniques will be mentioned here. <br />&#13;<br />
Watching TV; make sure that you always position yourself between the TV and your human. On the coffee table for example. You can also lie on the TV and let you tail or paws swing down in front of the screen. This method is most effective on small screens where you can cover a large percentage of the screen. It is a bit trickier with a flat screen &#8211; and only recommended for the agile kitty. A variation can be used with a computer screen.  The new flat screens often leave a lot of empty space on the desk &#8211; so just get up in front &#8211; remind your human of how wonderful you are. <br />&#13;<br />
Cleaning; stalk the vacuum cleaner and attack when it passes by. You can also pretend that you want to attack the vacuum cleaner but &#8220;accidentally&#8221; catch a foot instead.<br />&#13;<br />
Garden work; jump repeatedly up-and-down and scatter any leaves that your human has raked together. Attack gardening tools &#8211; especially while they&#8217;re being used. Immediately dig up any newly planted seeds, plants and flowers.</p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Closed Doors <br />&#13;<br />
Under no circumstances accept closed doors that separate you from your human. At any and all times you have a right to know what your human is doing. If the situation do arise when you by accident have been placed on the wrong side of a door you need to make your human aware of this ASAP so  he/she can remedy the situation immediately. Loud meows and scratching on the door should be sufficient to get your humans attention. If this is ignored you need to take more drastic measures: Make a sound as if you are going to throw up. This sound can be heard by all humans in a 50 feet radius. This sound can also be heard through closed doors. The &#8220;puke sound&#8221; will always result in your human&#8217;s immediate presence. </p>
<p>&#13;<br />
Sleeping Time<br />&#13;<br />
It is important for us cats to prioritize our sleeping time. The objective is to get as much sleep done as possible while your human is awake. You will then be especially well rested and bushy-tailed at night when it is your job to keep your human awake. You can for example use the classical &#8220;cat-play with toes&#8221; and attack everything that moves under the duvet. You can also reenact highlights from last year&#8217;s Grand National Steeplechase by revealingly galloping across the bed. When your paw tracks are almost invisible your paws are clean and you are ready to go outside again.</p>

Sometimes it can be necessary to discipline even a well-trained human. However do remember never to hit a human. At the most mark with a soft paw on the human&#8217;s arm or hands. But try first to make your human understand what it has done wrong. And most importantly: be patient! The human intellect is relatively limited and it can be difficult for them to understand our wishes and needs.<br />&#13;<br />
Even after approximately 5000 years of domestication the human species still has primitive instincts and it does take time to train your human completely.</p>

Door Training<br />&#13;<br />
One of the first things you need to teach your human is to open the front door, the garden door and backdoor when required. This is done by walking up to a door and make an impatient and very loud meow. Make some tripping steps with your back paws obviously indicating that you need to go to the outdoor litter box. When your human has gotten up from the couch and opened the door you decide that you do not really need to go outside right now. Just for appearances you can stand in the open door and pretend that you are thinking about the situation for a few seconds before you turn around to go inside again. Repeat this procedure several times a day. This will keep your human in good door opening form.</p>

Inspection of the House<br />&#13;<br />
A house usually has unlimited possibilities for suitable sleeping spots. Every possibility no matter how theoretical should be investigated and tested. Cardboard boxes, cupboards, drawers, couches and beds are obvious localities, but places such as old slippers (size 11 or higher) open gymbags or kitchen cupboards should not be overlooked.<br />&#13;<br />
The house should further be investigated for all possible toys. An old sock can represent several hours of entertainment if you get your claw on a loose end and unravel a couple of miles worth of yarn. You human will love to tidy up after your play.</p>

If the businesses are to keep up with the ever increasing competition, then they obviously have to manage their resources effectively. Managing the resources have to be done with careful consideration. Managing the human aspect of the organization is very vital as the the success of the entire organization depends on it&#8217;s workforce. In other words, managing the workforce in an organization is indeed not an easy task as people basically have different feelings, aspirations thoughts and needs. However, when it comes to managing the human resources effectively, it is rather important to plan how to utilize the humen resources better, in order to get the most out of the workforce, while fulfillling their needs. This is where the human resource planning comes into action thsu taking into consideration both the orgainzation and the employees.</p>
<p>Human resources planning is the process by which the management ensures that the right number of people with the right skills are available at the right time, in the right job, in order to help the organization achieve it&#8217;s objectives. In other words, human resource planning is all about finding out in advance how many workers are needed to perform the tasks, how many employees with the required skills are avilable within and outside the organization and how is it possible to fulfil the staffing needs of the organization when needed. Human resource planning is not new. It has been practised by many organizations in the past as well, in order to ensure that the right person does the right job at the right time. However, in the past the nature of human resource planning practised by many organizations were slightly different to what  it is today. This was because, the environmental conditions in the olden days were stable and certain, and as a result, the human resource planning was mainly focussed towards the short term demand for labour.</p>
<p>But today, with the increasing nature of environmental stability, changes in technology and the ever increasing competition, the nature of  human resource planning  has changed thus focusing on both the short term and the long term labour needs of the organizations. In other words, they not only plan the workforce for the current situation, but also for the many years ahead. If not, then the organizations that do not plan for the future have not much of opportunities to survive the increasing competition.</p>
<p>Having said that, in order to utilize the human resources effcetively, the human resources planners basically have to forecast the organizations workforce needs first, and then come out with a plan which will direct them  how to fulfil those needs. In other means, if the human resource planners are to provide the right number of people with the right skills in order to perform the tasks at the right time, then they obviously have to gather information, came up with objectives and make decisions.</p>
<p>When it comes to human resource planning, there are  three main key areas that have to be addressed by the human resource planners. These includes finding out the demand for labour, performing a supply analysis and balancing both the demand and the supply of labour in the organization. If we go into see each of the key areas in more detail,  first of all the human resource planning begins with understanding the corporate strategy and objectives of the organization. In other means, if they are to decide on how many employees are needed with the right skiils, then they have to know where the organization is heading . With knowing nothing about where the organization wants to go, and how they want to achieve it&#8217;s corporate strategy, it is no point coming up with plans regarding the workforce. This is because the number and types of employees needed basically depends on what the organization wants to achieve.  Only once they have an insight to the strategies and objectives of the organization, then they are able to forecast the demand for labour needed by the organization  both in the short term as well as the long term.</p>
<p>Once the human resource planners have an through knowledge of how many employees are needed in the organization with the required skiils,  then next what they do is to take a count of the current workforce in the organization. In other words an inventory of course, to find out how many employees are currently available in the organization and the skills and knowledge of the employees, inaddition to their profile facts such as age , sex , and where theycome from etc. This basically provides the human resource planners with with an insight to what types of skills are available immediately, which will in turn help them to decide what needs to be done next.</p>
<p>Taking into consideration the inventory of the current workforce available immediately, then they go into analyze the internal supply of labour availabe against the estimated demand for labour both in the short term as well as the long term that is necessary to achieve the strategies and objectives of the organization. By doing so, they compare both the figures in order to find out whether the deman for labour could be fulfilled by the immediately available workforce. In other words, to see whether there is a gap between the supply and demand for labour. Then of course, if there happens to be a gap between the supply and demand for labour that means there is either a shortage or a surplus of labour.</p>
<p>However, if there happens to be a surplus or shortage of labour supply  then the human resource planners will develop strategies in order to remove this gap. If there is a surplus meaning to say that the internal supply of labour available is more than the forecasted demand, then they will probably take cation to reduce the available workforce uisng strategies such as retirement, reduce hours and remove flexi hours etc.But if there happen to be a shortage in the labour supply, then they will develop strategies such as recruitment, increase over time increase temperary workers, increse flexi hours etc in the short term. But whenit comes to long term planning,  they mainly concentrate on strategies such as training and development, promotion and career development programs etc, in order to prepare the existing workforce for the future demand of the organization. At the end, human resource planning also involves in keeping a track of the strategies they have implemented in order to findout whether the required labour demends have been met.</p>
<p>To conclude, it should be said that human resource planning is vital for any organization whether big or small. This is because, it does affect the entire organization by way of preparing the workforce to achieve its objectives. If the organizations are to face the challenges in the future, it is of course the human resource planning that paves the way for the organization to utilize the workforce effectively and efficiently. If not for human resource planning, the organizations will be un prepared to face the on going competition. Hence so, it should be said that orgainzations survival amaong the competitors mainly depends on how well the organizations human resource planning is.  </p>

Brutal conditions, rationed food, tight living quarters. Sounds pretty bleak. Now imagine that something goes horribly wrong. As days turn into weeks the rationed food is exhausted. As weeks turn into months hope is all that is left. When hope diminishes, all that is left is the will to live.<br />
Sir Ernest Shackleton&#8217;s 1914 voyage turned into a disaster just before he and his crew of twenty-eight could reach Antarctica. Their ship The Endurance was held up by ice for ten months and then crushed by it&#8217;s frozen, unforgiving force, and that is just the beginning of this two-years long journey. It is amazing what he and his crew endure over this time period just to survive.</p>
<p>This is an excerpt from a diary kept by crewman Thomas Orde-Lees that recounts a very cold and desperate time some six months after the men abandoned the crumpled, mangled wreckage of their ship on three lifeboats.</p>
<p>&#8220;As the water splashed into the boats it froze instantly forming thick incrustations of ice on the inside of the boat and over all the gear freezing up the sail as stiff as a piece of corrugated iron. Fortunately the water which ran into the bottom of the boat did not freeze at once so that by frequent bailing we were able to keep pace with it and prevent the accumulation of ice along the keels, where, had it once formed, it would have been next to impossible to eradicate it on account of the cargo.</p>
<p>Much sleet covered us, and what with this and the sea spray we were all more or less wet through and our outer clothing was frozen stiff. Our time was largely occupied in picking the ice off each other&#8217;s backs. It would be a lie to say that we were at all happy under these circumstances but now and again we made a feeble effort to assume a cheerful, hopeful air in spite of ourselves. We were being sorely tried, indeed, though.&#8221;</p>

There is no guarantee, however, that they will exercise this capacity at all times and to the maximum, whatever happens. Depression and shame remain a possibility, which increases with the severity of their afflictions and the difficulty of living up to the values that are necessary for their happiness and respectability: courage, efficiency, wisdom, and nobility.</p>
<p>Living up to these values is never easy, even under extremely favorable circumstances. It requires an effort of will. To make or not to make this effort is the question, central to the human existence. This question is difficult in proportion to the weight of suffering that bears on humans, while their dignity hangs in the balance. The more burdensome this weight, the more tempting it is for them to take the easy way out. The fear of losing their dignity, however, is a strong deterrent. There is no greater loss than that of dignity, save the loss of life itself. Yet, the easy way out is a very powerful temptation in extremely unfavorable circumstances. Giving up instead of living up to the values mentioned above is then deplorable but understandable. Excruciating circumstances are extenuating ones.<br />
<span id="more-119"></span><br />
Amazingly enough, despite the burden of suffering that is oppressive to many, the incidence of moral collapse – in the form of errant ways like carelessness, vagrancy, and crime, often accompanied by alcohol or drug abuse to fuddle the conscience – is small in comparison with the incidence of worthy behavior. Furthermore, a moral collapse is remediable, except when the person concerned shows an inveterate or congenital weakness, or a mental illness that is beyond cure. On the whole, dignity can be lost and regained.</p>
<p>As for those who resist quitting the struggle for worthiness, they rarely do their best. In many instances their spirit is tainted with some degree of indulgence in laziness, cowardliness, ineffectiveness, foolishness, selfishness, and meanness. It has the grayness of dawn. Even those who shine like a late morning sun have a shadow of imperfection at their heels. In short, humanity has yet to fulfill its potential. While there is much courage, efficiency, wisdom, and nobility in the world, much happiness and respectability, there could be a whole lot more. The key to this rise is an effort of will.</p>
